About Me

Writing about yourself surely feels uncomfortable, most especially, if you are not used to it.  However I wanted to let you know a little something about me, what I do, and my interests.

My name is Bill Martin. I’m 41 years old, happily married to my beautiful and understanding wife for ten years and have 2 kids.  I’m just a middle aged guy who is trying to make a decent living,  save some money where I can, take care of my family and enjoy life as it comes.

In my opinion, a man who is middle aged becomes more introspective when it comes to the things that we like and do.  I guess mainly because we know what we want, like for example in hobbies. 

I used to hang out with the guys, hit the bars, drive my BMW and do stuff that cost a lot of money just to impress people.  Not any more. I have a family now and times have changed drastically with the massive recession we’re in.  Being frugal is not just for the “eccentric” anymore.

I love reading, shooting some hoops, jogging with my dogs, grilling on the patio and just hangin out with family and friends. I have to dress up all week, so the weekends are my time to kick back and relax.

One of the changes we’ve made as a family, to try and save some money, is cutting back on cable bills and going out to movies. We’ve also trimmed our food budget, we only eat out twice a month instead of every week.  It’s not really the big things that kill you on a family budget but all the little stuff that you just never think about.  Things you took for granted before, you have to reconsider now with the economy in such bad shape.
