Cut The Cable Bill and Save Some Money

bill martin 220 150x150 Cut The Cable Bill and Save Some Money Since we decided to cut our spending and become more frugal with our dollars, we’ve trimmed the food bill, we’re eating out less, feeding the dogs a bit cheaper food, washing our own cars, not going out to the movies hardly at all and eliminated our cable bill.

It’s incredible the amount of money that gets spent on things you really don’t need or care about, when you don’t have to worry where the money is coming from.

A friend at work told me how they trimmed their satellite bill by 50% by installing a Roku Digital Video Player and getting a Netflix subscription. I had never even heard of roku before.

Anyways, I did some research and found out that Roku has been available for over 2 years and is selling like gangbusters.  They have 3 different models, two are under $100 and the real high end one is $120, I believe.  We got the mid priced one and can’t be any happier. Completely eliminated our monthly cable bill and we watch whatever we want, when we want.

All the Roku players are a one time payment – NO monthly bills.

They work through your internet connection and you can select movies from Netflix (that’s $9 per month for unlimited free downloads) or Amazon On Demand, MLB, the free Roku Channel Store.  I can’t believe I never found this before. We are such movie nuts in my house.

17,000 movies with a free download – probably more by now.  You can even put your facebook and flickr photos on your tv and play all the music from Pandora.

You know if you have to have the latest, greatest movie release the minute they come out  – this may not be for you. But – if you need to save a little money on your entertainment expense, or just want some more good family time, I highly recommend Roku and Netflix!
